Season Two, Week 6

You know, folks, one of most stressful things about being an artist is a constant fear of accidentally plagiarizing someone. Like, once, I wrote a strip for Sinktown, only to realize later that it was a slightly more graphic version of a strip of Baby Blues I read in middle school. I didn’t draw it, but I could have, and then I would have been the worst kind of criminal, a plagiarist!
This week, I came really close. No sooner had I scanned in this freshly inked strip, than it hit me! I had unconsciously kinda sorta recreated Picasso’s “Guernica”! Right down to weird details like the swinging ceiling lamp! Fortunately, wiser artists than me have come up with a clever word to make it seem like we aren’t just stealing wholesale from those who are actually talented. This word is, “Homage”.
